Argo American Digger Derrick - Air Drill For Transmission Line Installation

Complete Unit
Sterling LT9513 Chassis
Butler Trailer with Sullair Rotary Compressor
Compressors operate in tandem.

Drilling in Process (Rock in picture is the rotary drilling method) is by an Ingersoll Quantum Leap. Down-Hole Drill.

Drilling is achieved via air from compressors using a combination of raw weight and rotation to chip and carve rock from bottom of hole. At this stage the blown out parts are chipped rock (gravel) and dust.

Completed hole, 36" wide, 14.5 ft deep.

After drill enters the ground, water surface, dust and rock chips seem to turn into a sand-like substance.

Drill: Ingersoll-Rand Quantum Leap Drill

Can-Rod extension and extra weight

--This size is recommended for particularly hard rock application where large volume rock excavation is needed, using the newest design in drilling techniques with the Ingersoll-Rand "Quantum Leap" Downhole Drill Model QL200s.

Rotary drilling methods use the combination of raw weight and rotation to chip and carve rock from a hole. The best performance of any down-hole drill can be achieved when a maximum volume of air can be passed through the drill with a solid chock. The Quantum Leap Down-Hole Drill has a chock plug which can be changed if additional hole cleaning air is needed, and compressors are capable to maximize capacity. Bailing velocity is very important for hole cleaning. It has a direct effect and can result in poor performance and rapid wear of bits and accessories.
